Goodbye, My Favorite Redhead

by ShannonGJ on May 2, 2011

SGJ1 small 150x150 Goodbye, My Favorite RedheadAfter my blog post last week, I was preparing for busy days ahead and feeling really good. I was close to completing production on the first episode of my show Event Life, I was gearing up to hit the red carpet at the Tribeca Film Festival for interviews with Julia Roberts (she walked right by me, waved and said “no thank you” with her perfect smile), Harry Belafonte (this ended up being my all-time favorite interview and one of those moments in my career that will forever change my life) and Ron Howard (who is a cool dude and very easy to talk to), and getting my outfits ready for the parties I planned to attend (Happy Belated Birthday, Harriet Cole! You fine woman, you!).

Then I check my email and see one from my Dad. He read my blog for the first time and I was so happy (he is not an Idol watcher). But then I see that the email is not a good

one…

Re: No Subject

Read your blog.  Segway is really segue.

FGodfrey

I reread it a few times and then started laughing. My Dad writes to tell me that I misspelled a word wrong!!! Argh. See, this was after my blog posted, and after I had “segway” several times in my post. You know, the one that I had already posted. My Dad, my best friend, my wonderful Dad, is a retired college professor who received Professor of the Year 20+ years in a row. So this is something I have lived with all my life. I wonder what word I can misspell for him this week?

Who the heck is Webster anyway? And who gave him the right to get the final word on what words mean and how they are spelled? Well, bah humbug Webster’s Dictionary! I am changing the spelling to segway because it makes more damn sense!

Now to Idol talk. DIDN’T I TELL YOU NOT TO VOTE CASEY OFF? We must be having a disconnect here folks. We have to work together to keep those who will change music from the cookie-cutter crap we are forced to listen to on the radio stations everyday, to real music from someone who plays wacky instruments and growls while he sings! I am very disappointed. My favorite redhead is gone. And I blame you! Yes you, the ones reading this that didn’t vote for Casey!

But he went out with a bang. His final performance said to me “I’m good. One of the best. And I’ll show you when I go platinum with a JAZZ ALBUM!” Well, I’m buying whatever you’re selling Mr. Casey. Even if its growls and too much facial hair.

Now I only have one more guy to vote for like there is no tomorrow and that’s The Durbin. That boy is one talented fool. You know, fool in a good way. He showed us that, “Oh by the way, I can sing better than anyone here too, just incase you missed that part of my many talents.” I replayed his performance over and over with my baby on my lap. I think he is a Durbin fan too because he kept smiling at the TV then looking at me like “You hear that Mommie? Wow!” Then he started screaming real loud, which made my ears hurt.

Really and truly, everyone is performing their arses off, and I’m loving it. I am hoping that Miss Alaina with her cute self, will keep her confidence up and have it grow more and more so we can see her at 100%. Something tells me she is holding back a bit. And I’d like to see her sing like the Lusk…with everything.

And I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Church Sangin’ Lusk will stay happy. He is quite charming and fun to watch when he is smiling that ear to ear smile.

Now there is only one redhead left. (say it with me now…) Scotty. Scotty McCreery. Scotty, don’t let us down. You’re my second favorite redhead and I’m pulling for ya! And I hope you’re not offended by the “second favorite” thing.

Haley is still holding on. I think I’ll call her Holdin’ Haley. Yeah, I like that. About as much as I like her. Is she growing on me? (Shrugging shoulders). Nah. But I do like her style and hairdo’s.

Speaking of style… The D O G is stepping his game up now that he is sitting next to the always looking darned good Jennifer and I’m sexy just because I’m sexy Stephen. This time the blue bling was on his bracelet. And he went on stage to give James props but really to show us his bronzed out sneakers. I see ya’ Dog. I see ya.

Dad?  Professor, Dad? Did I pass the spelling bee this week? (CHEESE)

Until next time…

Yeah, I’m gonna miss Casey. I don’t think the voters are ready for a jazz American Idol.
Thanks for the info on your life outside of this blog … fun!
